The Parish Pastoral Council consists of five elected members and five appointed members.  See the bottom of this page for upcoming PPC meetings.

Elected Members

Teresa Britton

(Elected representative for liturgy)

I am married to Mick and we have four grown-up children and two grandchildren.  I have been a member of St Mary's parish since moving here in 1979.  During that time, I have been involved as a catechist for Children's Liturgy of the Word and for the First Reconciliation and First Holy Communion groups, as a Eucharistic minister, a reader and a sacristan.  I also enjoy taking my turn on the flower-arranging rota.  I was born in Liverpool where I trained as a primary school teacher.  Before retiring, I taught at St Robert's Harrogate for 18 years.  I was recently appointed as a Foundation Governor for St Mary's.

I have been a member of the parish and taught in the Parish Primary School for over 25 years.  I am a Eucharistic Minister and usually attend the Vigil Mass on Saturday evening after which I can often be found helping out in the Church shop.

Charlotte Burrell

I am a paediatric Speech and Language Therapist working in schools and clinics in the Leeds area.  I usually attend 10am Mass on Sunday morning.  I enjoy spending time with family and friends.

Married to David, one daughter Emma.  Parishioner for 25 years, usually attending Sunday morning Mass.  Within the parish I am a member of the finance committee, organise fundraising and refreshments after Sunday morning Mass, and I am involved with the restoration of the Church garden.  Outside of the parish I am an 'outdoorsy' person, and enjoy running, walking, cycling and of course gardening.

Appointed Members (appointed by the Parish Priest)

Stephen Walker

(With responsibility for representing the Finance Committee)

My family moved to Knaresborough and St Mary's in 2004 with my children both attending St John Fisher High School.  I'm a regular reader at the 5pm Sunday Mass and enjoy this ministry.  With my background in retail and general management I was asked to join the Finance Committee and eventually assumed the role of "chair".  I've also been heavily involved with the redevelopment of the Old School and continue to work on the refurbishment and maintenance of our historic church.

Paul Jackson

(With responsibility for representing the parish school)

I have been a member of St Mary's parish since moving to Knaresborough in 2001.  I am married wih two grown up children and two grandchildren.  I am a Eucharistic Minister and recently appointed foundation governor at St Mary's school.  I am now retired but spent my teaching career in Catholic, secondary education, with 22 years as headteacher in two Catholic secondary schools, including St John Fisher Catholic School, Harrogate, from 2001 to 2014.

Simon Stockdale

I am Simon Stockdale and our family has been part of the parish since we moved to the area in 2006.  I am a primary school teacher and have worked at a number of schools including St Mary's from 2006 until 2010.  I am currently a Eucharistic minister and a sacristan.

Jo Brennan

I have been a member of the Parish and attended St Mary's with my family for nearly twenty years.  Both our children were baptised in the church.  They attended St Mary's Primary School and St John Fisher Catholic High School.

I am the Safeguarding Representative for the Parish, ensuring that where required the correct DBS (formerly CRB) applications are in place for appointed roles in the Parish.  I am one of the initial points of contact for any safeguarding concerns.  You may also recognise me as part of the tea and coffee rota and as one of the Fundraising Team.  This has provided a real sense of involvement in the life of the parish and through the same I have made some good friends.

I live with my family in Whixley.  I work as a solicitor specialising in property law.  For many years this was with a practice in Knaresborough and latterly in York.

Chris Clissitt

I have been a member of St Mary's parish since moving to Knaresborough in 1993.  I am married with three grown up children, two still at university.  I am a reader, a bulletineer and the minutes secretary for the Parish Finance Committee.  I also look after the Parish Contact database - you may receive mailshots about parish events from me from time to time!
