Catholic Youth

At St Aelred's, our goal is to empower and inspire our children and young adults to wholeheartedly embrace their journey as disciples of Our Lord Jesus Christ. We acknowledge that there is significant work ahead of us to realize this vision. We invite parishioners to deepen their involvement in youth activities, enabling us to more effectively integrate our young people into the vibrant life, mission, and work of the parish and the Church.

Join thousands of young Catholics from across the UK as we gather at Wembley Arena to explore the theme from World Youth Day ‘Rise Up!’ - encouraging young Catholics to rise up and step out into where God is calling them with trust and confidence in Him.

Pope Francis

“Pope Francis is not afraid to name the problems facing young people in our world, particularly exploitation in all its many forms, but he does not dwell on the negatives. He invites young people to take their place as the ‘now of the Church’, work in solidarity to fight evil and live the gift of the ‘present’.”

“In the midst of all the problems in our world and in our Church that cause anxiety and alienation among many young people, the Pope’s exhortation offers young people the hope of Christ,” Bishop Macbeth.

POPE FRANCIS

“Youth is for taking risks, good risks, risks full of hope. It is meant to be staked on great things. Youth is meant to be given away, to help others to know the Lord. Don’t keep your youth to yourselves: get out there!”

WORLD YOUTH DAY 2023

Pope Francis released a message for the youth of the world concerning World Youth Day, which is to be held in Lisbon in 2023. This was initially  postponed due to the Covid-19 pandemic - the Pope is urging young people to follow in the footsteps of Our Lady, going in haste to others and dedicating our lives to Jesus.
